Siemens CEO: Trump would support us in Iraq, Syria

Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser said on Thursday in Davos that he thinks United States President Donald Trump would support his company's efforts to get involved in reconstruction projects in Iraq and Syria.

Speaking to CNBC, Kaeser stressed that he talked to Trump earlier in the week and told him that Siemens doesn't want to be caught up in trade tensions between the US and the European Union despite the fact that its headquarters are in Europe. The CEO said his firm employs more than 60,000 people in the US and therefore expects to be treated as a US company, especially if it helps "rebuild" states hit by conflict.

Kaeser said Trump responded by saying he makes a "fair point" and that any company that creates US jobs is "a part of" the country.
