Airbus SE delivered more planes than it expected in 2019, leaving The Boeing Co. behind to become the world's largest plane manufacturer, according to sources in the airport and tracking industry.

The European airplane maker reportedly delivered 863 jets in 2019, which is 8% more than in the year prior, the sources told Reuters. It did, however, lower its target in October to 860 deliveries, due to declining incoming orders in the first nine months.

Sales chief Christian Scherer said last month that Airbus expects full year sales to increase.
