US wants to negotiate deal after WTO allows EU tariffs

The United States told the World Trade Organization (WTO) that it would like to negotiate a deal with the European Union rather than automatically impose tariffs over illegal Airbus subsidies, a spokesperson for the WTO reveled on Monday in Geneva.

The comments come after the WTO formalized its ruling in which it said the US can impose tariffs on imports from the EU.

Earlier in October, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington is prepared for talks with the EU after it announced it was planning to introduce $7.5 billion in tariffs on EU goods.
