Italy's antitrust watchdog announced on Friday it launched a preliminary investigation into Alphabet Inc.'s local Google subsidiary over the alleged abuse of a dominant market position. Italian Antitrust Authority contends that Google was mistreating other software companies through it's Android operating system.

Google allegedly refused to integrate X Recharge application, made by Italian-based firm Enel, in its Android Auto platform. Besides this, the antitrust watchdog called on the tech giant to present and defend the business model of its Google Map app and its handling of information concerning locations of electric cars charging stations.

The proceeding against the company will be completed by May 30.
