The so-called Yellow Vests protests in France continued for the ninth consecutive weekend on Saturday. At least 100 people were arrested across the country, according to the Interior Ministry, with some 32,000 demonstrators taking to the streets of French cities by early afternoon. On the other hand, there were 80,000 policemen deployed to counter the masses across the nation.

In Paris, protesters clashed with the police around the Arc de Triomphe monument, while the nearby Champs Elysees avenue was closed for traffic. Provincial city of Bourges in central France was another center of protests, where around 4,800 yellow vests marched, according to local authorities.

Last weekend, an estimated 50,000 people demonstrated in France against the perceived socially unjust policies of President Emmanuel Macron.
