Europe closes slightly lower after ECB ends QE program

Markets in Europe closed in the red on Thursday after the European Central Bank (ECB) announced it will end its quantitative easing program at the end of the month. The ECB also decided to hold interest rates and slightly lowered the growth outlook for 2018 and 2019.

The FTSE 100 dipped 0.04% with Marks & Spencer, down 3.80%, leading the losses. The DAX was down 0.04% as Covestro and Fresenius fell 2.63% and 2.38%, respectively. The CAC 40 declined 0.26%. The worst performer was Cap Gemini whose shares slid 2.72%.

The euro lost 0.18 against the dollar to sell for 1.1351 at 5:38 pm CET.
